COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCIES OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE

(English Consultant)  This article will talk about the communicative competencies of English language.  Communicative competencies of English language consists of 5 (five) competencies, namely 1) linguistic competency, 2) discourse competency, 3) socioculture competency, 4) strategic competency, and 5) actional competency.  Linguistic competency covers gramnar rules of the language. ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES IN VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

ESP is greatly needed by vocational high school due to the departmental characteristics of vocational high school.  As we know that vocational high school consists of certain departments, such as automotive, mechatronic, culinary, farming, fishery, agriculture, multimedia and so on. Because of the departmental characteristics of vocational high school, the English lesson taught should not be equal to the English lesson taught in senior high school. The English lesson should apply ESP.  The English lesson taught in automotive should apply English for automotive.  Through ESP, the English lesson will focus on the special need of every department; so that, the students are able to communicate in English based on their own departments.  To sum up, vocational high school should apply...
