COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCIES OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE

This article will talk about the communicative competencies of English language. 

Communicative competencies of English language consists of 5 (five) competencies, namely 1) linguistic competency, 2) discourse competency, 3) socioculture competency, 4) strategic competency, and 5) actional competency. 

Linguistic competency covers gramnar rules of the language. It discusses the modal, preposition and so on, so that the language is accurate. 

Discourse competency covers kinds of text, for example narratve, descriptive, analytical exposition and so on. Related to text, it discusses language features, generic structure and so on. The purpose of the competency is to enrich the people with the literacy. 

Socioculture competency covers social and cultural conditions where the language is used. It includes the ethics, traditions, customs and so on, so that there will not be any miscommunication among the language users. 

Strategic competency covers the fluency of the language use. In this competency, the language users are able to manipulate the language symbols to be fluent. 

Actional competency covers the practice of the language use in daily activities, so that the people will be accustomed to speaking the language. 

In short, the five competencies should be applied integrally to create the maximum exposure of the English language.
